Tent-Venture Season Two - Episode 9

I’m posting the following journey undertaken by my friend Theodore Complete on their behalf.

Tent-Venture - S02E09

Day 98 (5/6)  F42

We’re close to the endgame now.

I gave it a rich nutrient feeding today just for the hell of it. She’s still sucking back around 3 L of water per day at this point. The scent when I open the tent makes me thankful that I put the external vent in, I think it was a worthwhile investment.

Here was my last grow at day 42. I like the improvements.

It will be interesting to see the yield in comparison.

Day 99 (5/7) F43

Some nice zoom ins. You can see a few amber trichromes starting.

Day 100 (5/8) F44

The colas are bending from their own weight.

Day 101 (5/9) F45

I’m hoping to harvest around day 70, but I’m excited now. This gal has been filling out lots over the past 2 weeks with only a few more to go!

Day 102 (5/10) F46

I’m surprised that there aren’t more yellow leaves at this point of the life cycle. It may be due to hammering it full of nutrients up to this point. The tips are definitely burnt which is fine with me.

I may start tapering off the nutrients and just clean feeding water soon.

Day 103 (5/11) F47

It’s interesting to see that even the small bud sites that are under the canopy are pretty large. I trimmed out a lot of these beforehand but left a few tiny ones to see how they’d do.

Day 104 (5/12) F48

I don’t really do much these days other than peek in and drool a bit.

The last plant was 64 days in flowering until the chop, so just over 2 weeks of it’s the same. It will depend on what the plant tells me. I’ve read differing opinions about whether to continue feeding nutrients right up until the end.

Day 105 (5/13) F49

Today I broke my distilled water streak. I realized that the reservoir was empty and I just filled it with water I had sitting out for a while. I didn't want to go to the store. The amount of plastic bottles I’ve gone through is enough for one run. The last few weeks will be fine.

I feel like the last grow showed more cold stress and colouring due to the time of year and the ambient temperatures in the basement. My temperature control was dialled in about the same, and I don’t see any of the same signs. Although for all I know there were other deficiencies at play in my last effort. Oh well.

Day 106 (5/14) F50

It’s a strong smell when I open the tent. I took a stroll outside to smell the exhaust and there’s barely a whiff when I stick my face against it. An absolute win.

Day 108 (5/16) F52

IMG_3648.JPG

I think she’s drinking a little less water than usual. The leaves aren’t yellowing and dying.. maybe I should have cut off the nitrogen earlier. I think this will affect things. Oh well, another lesson learned. I’m gonna leave it alone and hopefully it clears out in a few weeks. I may do a flush tomorrow to clean things up a bit.

Day 110 (5/18) F55

Day 111 (5/19) F56

I think I’m going to shoot for 70 days which will bring me to the end of the next episode. I’ll keep monitoring throughout and adjust as necessary.

I tried to put some bamboo support in for the heavier branches but just succeeded in getting sticky rosin on my hands and accomplished little.

I’ve been reflecting on my journey to this point. It was roughly a year ago that I started my growing adventure with a poor attempt at a space bucket. I was so excited and uninformed, just like anyone starting a new hobby, and was constantly messing with parameters which ultimately led to my downfall - what a fool I was. Now I don’t often mess with anything in the grow, and the plant benefits from stability and consistency. I can see why people go for larger scale grows, but for me one plant is more than enough. This is a hobby that anyone can pick up and turn into a successful endeavour with a bit of investment.
