Tent-Venture Season Two - Episode 5

I’m posting the following journey undertaken by my friend Theodore Complete on their behalf.

Tent-Venture - S02E05

Day 43 (3/12)

I trimmed a few lower nodes again today, hopefully it wasn’t too soon after the last trim.

I also added another ring to support the plant and let me tie off to on the outside .

Day 45 (3/14)

The fungus gnats are back.. I’m not sure if it is just some dormant ones coming to life or if they’re sneaking in with the new vent, but it seems like a curious amount in a small time. They seemed to pop up overnight, and if they were from the outside that means they would have had to crawl through 2 backdraft blockers to get in. I must destroy them.

I have had a mosquito dunk sitting in a small jug of water for just such an occasion. I added that water to the surface, and sprayed the top of the soil with Neem oil spray. I also turned the extractor fan on to keep the air pushing back any potential outside invaders.

I also noticed a split on the first hub that I’ll keep my eye on. I later read that if I had left a bit more of a stump when I did the first trim this would have been avoided.  As the plant gets larger I’ll have to properly support the shoots to avoid stressing this joint.

Day 46 (3/15)

Slurping down around 1.5 L in 24 hrs at this point. I’m closing in on the 55 days I left Sadie for before flipping.

Day 47 (3/16)

I tied down a few branches but some are just taller than others and there doesn’t seem like much I can do about it without further measures.. so I took them today.

I did a bit of pruning and added the scrog net to force the horizontal evenness I’m looking for. After removing the outer tomato cage, I hung the net frame from the top of the tent and dropped it to the rough level. I folded the taller growth to the net level as best I could.  It looks ugly but it should recover.

Day 48 (3/17)

It has altered orientation to adapt to the screen and I pushed a few branches under.

Day 49 (3/18)

I may run out of spaces for the shoots. I’m trying to coach growth to the center a bit more.

Day 50 (3/19)

I’m founding home base now, day 55 is close and I’m getting antsy. She’s getting difficult to manage in the net.

Day 51 (3/20)

It’s getting to be quite the chore to weave new growth through the net. I’m hoping the pay-off is worth the time, but it’s crazy the growth and coverage in only 4 days. I think future grows I will try shorter veg times and multiple plants.

Day 52 (3/21)

I nipped off a few leaves but that’s it at this point. The flip is going to happen in a few short days so I gotta leave it. It’s getting pretty difficult to control at this point.

Day 53 (3/22)

Rounding near the flowering phase. I need to look into fertilizer for bloom I think. I used liquid fertilizer before but I’m not sure about this time around.

A fingerprint smudge on my lens gave me a hazy photo.

Day 54 (3/23)

I’m not sure if I’m supposed to weave these down during the flowering stretch, but I’m almost out of room to practically do that anyway.

Day 55 (3/24)

Well, that’s the end of the vegetative phase! I’m going to do what I can to weave the stems into the net for a day or two, and I read that I should defoliate about 2 weeks into the flowering stretch but I’ll play that by ear.

I switched the timer to 12 hours of light and 12 dark. Time to party.

I really hope it’s not a male plant..
