Haywire
I was a tired boy at the opening bell this morning. I didn’t sleep well after a few nights on the road. I found myself somewhat strapped for time to start the day. Luckily I had a blueberry breakfast to shave some minutes off the normal breakfast prep time. It was a delicious way to start the day.
There would be something of a reprieve for a couple days before heading back out into the world. I’d been marginally neglecting my email for a couple days and there was some back up. I wondered if people knew I was back at my desk because the couple hours of freedom I had in the morning was a gong show! So many things happening all at once. And I was trying to prepare for the two day meeting I had upcoming (big reason I came home a day sooner than I would have). I was feeling really frantic for most of the morning. I wrote some bullet points about products for all the customers and the idea was that I’d pop into the updates for each with a tidbit from my world. But things got so backed up in the schedule that I didn’t get called upon for half of them. Shows me for being prepared. That work will never see the light of day now, effectively time completely wasted. Bummer. The meeting was on Mountain time so when they had a twenty minute break at their ten bells, I had my entire lunch, scarfing it at my desk. That did not calm things for me, just kept that frantic, scramble mental state going. I was supposed to have ten minutes for an update towards the end of the day but ended up getting bumped. That one I was fine with, now I can make actual slides. The meeting continued later into the evening and when it was over I made myself a quick dinner. A cardboard pizza with just some Cholula hot sauce as an addition. You can tell from the picture that the sun was getting low in the sky by the time I got to mash this into my gob. It was satisfying.
The evening was spent starting my slides and getting settled back in. There was a lengthy bout of Marvel Strike Force. It’s becoming an obsession. Since I discovered I have two accounts, it’s been chewing up more and more of my day. I had some YouTube to enjoy and settled in for a wasted weekend. My mind needed a break and I was hoping for an earlier night. That time zone change kept me up though and it was closer to even when I dipped gently into unconsciousness.
