An Enjoyable One
The day started early which made the late night all the more unpleasant. I had tossed and turned for some time, trying many thing to coax sleep to me, before finally passing out from sheer exhaustion. I flailed in bed for a while before accepting my fate and deciding that I did need to get groceries. With a family feast coming up tomorrow and no good opportunity in between to stock up I really had no choice. I made my complicated list and was out there door into the warmed up truck in no time. I had a low air warning on one of the tires but chose to ignore it for the short drive, it was fine, don’t worry, this isn’t foreshadowing. I mention it only because if I was making a run for it during a zombie apocalypse it could have been a problem. I stopped for a McBreakfast and got to Walmart shortly after eight, once again respecting the first hour of senior time. It wasn’t an exciting shop, I wandered around the part of the store I wasn’t buying anything from just to get some steps in while I was out and about. Naturally a customer called while I was out, I don’t get a call from anyone for weeks until I’m unable (unwilling) to answer. That’s the way of things. I got home and quickly stowed my goods in time to start work just after nine.
I powered through the morning and got pulled into a meeting before lunch. Eventually I went down to eat at half twelve with the previously moved meeting from earlier in the week looming at one. I slurped back another big bowl of soup, the last of it, and a pizza bun. Third day in a row for that combination. I treated myself to two Viva Puff cookies for dessert today, the benefit of grocery day. The call went by very quickly and I followed up with the host to offer my assistance on the project. Next there was a call I was looking forward to. One of my customers was having a virtual event that featured a beer tasting. The event itself was to introduce some opportunity to grow malt barley in Ontario. As such both the Big T and Jacko were on the call. It was a follow-up to the other one I’d referenced. It was pretty good, one presenter had some issues with connectivity it seemed but overall a good time. I thought it would be an hour, maybe ninety minutes but it lasted much longer than that, taking it right up to the end of the day. I drank the two beers that had been mailed to us previously and it all went straight into my face. I guess I’ll have to recover some tolerance before that goes away. It didn’t last as long this time. I know from incessantly checking with my phone. I had a little fire to put out before powering down and I’ll see tomorrow what I did. I was fairly tipsy after those beers so it might be exciting.
It was half five when I galloped down the stairs to start dinner. The amended plan said that tonight was the night for the coconut shrimp. I’ve had the shrimp in the freezer for months now and finally was getting around to making it. I set up my breading stations and took my time preparing the meal, savouring it. The consumption saw much less care and patience. They were perfect. I left the shrimp in the sink all day today to allow them to fully thaw this time. I’ll have to get some more to try it again. When dinner was cleaned up I ascended to work on some Musings and then recalled the Leafs were on again. So I settled in to watch them light it up.
