State of Zen

After being wound tight and stressed out for a few days it was a new dawn today. Piping hot shower and breakfast bullets started me right. I fired up my machine around half eight and started some database maintenance. It’s a mindless job that I do once a year. It took me over a week last year but I’ve got things in pretty good shape already so it’s going smoother now. I booked the whole day to work on it. I had a few people ring me up and interrupt in the morning and I had a call scheduled in there too. I cooked lunch while on the phone but it was more commiserating than anything. Lunch was a couple of Mr Noodle packages, one chicken and one spicy chicken. A hollow, filling lunch. Physically and mentally I was in a great place heading into the afternoon. I started a new audiobook with my fresh credit. I got Ready Player One. I loved the movie and I’m counting on the book being even better. That and it sets me up to enjoy the second book. I almost got halfway through my work task in the first day. I’m feeling pretty good about it. It was around six when I warmed up a big bowl of soup and the dregs of my mashed cauliflower. My body didn’t like something about it and I’d pay for it later. After cleaning up I shuffled down to watch my beloved Leafs. They had a weak game and the Oilers played some frustrating defense. The result was a boring game. I found myself watching YouTube on my Mini on the side as they struggled along. After the defeat was complete I climbed to bed and tossed and turned for the better part of an hour, finally getting towed under waves of sleep at half ten.
