Readjustment Day

Sunday, the day of rest, was going to live up to that name. I wasn’t particularly exhausted or gassed but wanted to take a day off and do very little. I decided early on that I wasn’t going to get groceries and would instead survive off the food that Mother had sent back with me. Or at least that was the idea. I started into that concept with a fried egg adorning one of the homemade bagels she had sent. With my fast shattered I got laundry spinning and finished my unpacking. I used my early momentum to get some cleaning done. The house wasn’t left in shambles but I did some of the regular chores that needed doing. There was some lollygagging later in the morning and eventually I decided to watch the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring on the big screen in my lair. I’d never thought to investigate how it would appear on a larger screen. I was so happy with it. It looked amazing. It has been years since I’ve watched it and doing so on the large screen was the right move. I outsourced lunch to Pizza Pizza in the form of chicken bites and a crispy chicken salad. The salad had the “hearts” of iceberg lettuce in it. I’m all for texture but that was pretty bush league. After the film I folded and stowed my laundry. I cleaned a couple of bathrooms then had a muffin and energy ball for supper before tying into Sons of Anarchy. I picked up where my parents and I had left off and watched a whack of episodes before passing out at bedtime. It was a very low key day that was used to readjust to a different speed of life and to get prepared for my return to work after a week away.
