Sunday Errands

I was up good and early this Sunday morning. I had been taken by a deep sleep the night before. Likely the voyage tuckered me out. Big T had prepared some perogies, the last of the ones they bought when visiting me a month ago. We ate those then started into some errands. We went to the shop to work on Big T’s motorcycle. He had picked up a battery for it finally. Previously he’d needed a new fuel tank. Someone stole his previous one. He had brought the bike to a neighbour for him to look at but he died shortly after. His common law wife was concerned she wouldn’t get much inheritance and started selling assets. Allegedly in the shuffle the fuel tank disappeared off Big T’s bike. Turns out the replacement has a broken valve and fuel dumps out as fast as it goes in. This caused some frustration. I suggested we test the battery. It didn’t work. Turns out he bought it without any fluid. Not a good start to things.

The Corvette wouldn’t start either, a dead battery being the cause. We charged it up and got that running, it rumbles like I’d have dreamed. While it charged we ascended the barn to hunt for combine parts. I convinced him not to salvage in this case. We took some time to sort through the work bench. It’s embarrassingly messy. This took us up to lunch. I got to enjoy some mushroom soup. After lunch we started playing a shell game with the wagons. The ideal was to get them all down the hill one at a time then couple them into pairs for transport to the elevator the next day. With that complete we started trimming trees. The tenant complained that squirrels were getting on the roof so we eliminated the branches allowing this and cut them up for her firewood pile. Some time was spent developing a list of items that could be done cheaply to improve their quality of life while working. Mostly small jobs they’d wanted to do for years. We met the repairman for the solar panels and headed home. It rained all afternoon so a few beers for drank which led to some naps. We had a fantastic dinner of potatoes, corn, green beans and sausages. Mostly cooked in their precious Air Fryer. They really do love it. It was tasty. The evening held more of the same with an early bedtime.
