My Great Outdoors

Today I was up early enough to literally see the early bird get the worm! What a fun show they put on. There were actually four robins searching around, I saw them pull out two large worms and share them amongst themselves. It’s intestering how proficient they are at it and the different methods they appeared to be using. One bounced along and bobbed, another walked slowly and pecked around frequently. The others were a mixture. I wonder if their path across the grass was systematic and differs each day or if they mindlessly flit about like bird brains. I’ll keep an eye on this behaviour and see if I’m able to discern any type of pattern.

Today’s post is going to be mostly photos, not because I don’t have anything to say but because I can. I’m starting this very early in the morning so it’s possible that I return late in the day (at the usual time) to update with anything remarkable. But for now, I want to share some photos of my yard as per the request from occasional reader she, who gave a rare comment a few posts back.

This is the pot that greats guests at the front door. It has been fallow for the last two years and is starting to split open.

Last year was the first year in five that I did not have my fern at the front door. We’re back on track now.

This huge purple thing has completely taken over the fixed planter now. It looks like there is space but it is still swelling. The other ports are two that I built. There is a big red geranium that will dominate the pot on the right.

This pot was here when I moved in (as was the light) and I have managed to plant flowers in it every year. You might start to notice but three favourite colours to combine for flowers are purple, white, and red. You’ll see more of it before you leav…

The flowers in this pot aren’t looking their best at the moment, they were just watered. This is another pot that has been getting this combination of colours and flowers for the last few years.

I decided to resurrect this former inside fern pot to mimic the previous photo. I have one of these on either side of my patio door. I like the visual effect that it supplies.

This is the chair that I purchased. I’m not sure how much time I’ll spend sitting in it, staring at the sunset but from inside the house where I sit to eat it looks very idyllic. Not bad for $22.

This is a photo from near the patio door. The lawn is looking rather lush. This is just hours after its weekly cutting. I’ve been nipping anything big along the sides back with my little helper every couple of weeks.
