Three Man Meat Meet

My wild food purchases of the last week are complete. I already talked about the new supplier of vast quantities of food and Ron Ronks and I teamed up to order some more meat, ground beef and bacon in this case. That meat comes from the Chef. Ron had previously borrowed Chef’s wheelbarrow so we had occaision to meet at Ron’s place and do a three way swap. Chef got his wheelbarrow and I sold him three bags of tots as well as the sausage rounds we split. That selling the tots move allowed me to clear some space in my freezer to fit the meat. I also was forced by the tots situation to defrost some other items that I’ll have to cook this week now. Ron and I got his beef and bacon. We all leaned on a different side of the back of my truck and caught up for a few minutes which was nice. It was good to chat with some of the fellas in person. It has been a long time coming. I also got the Chef a little gift because I know he’s been having his struggles with quarantine and work lately and wanted to cheer him up. I told him it counts as half of his birthday present from 2019 and half for 2020. I got him a pretty lackluster gift last year so I wanted to make up for it. He has taken up smoking a pipe with real tobacco during the lockdown so I got him some accessories for that.

I was not overly productive the rest of the day. I had a very short nap and played some NHL20, actually a lot of it. I finished my season in Franchise mode and won the Cup for the Leafs. I did all the off-season and got it back to the pre-season. It was interesting, I made a number of deals for picks throughout the season and then happened to win the draft lottery. So the team that won the Cup also got the first overall pick and the twelfth overall pick. I made a lot of suspect free agent signings and then traded most of them away for more picks. So I have a fairly lean roster in the NHL and AHL and I have some very highly touted prospects in junior still. I would have got fired in real life for the moves I’ve made but I’m a Stanley Cup Champion and have a fantastic development system going. The other thing that has been happening for the last twelve hours is that I’m working my way through the Dune audiobook. I’m finding it very interesting so far. It might be something I listen to twice because I’m sure I’m missing some of the subtle details in this binge mode that I’m consuming it in. I still have to record my chapters for next week but it is a long weekend so I’m going to lean on that extra day.
