Aborted All Plans
The sleep was a powerhouse. Barely any interruptions and kept dragging on. A true weekend morning. A blip at five led to a blip at six thirty which led to waking up at half seven. The ability to just roll over and get the sleep you want is a treat that I recognize as special. I spent another hour lazing about and listening to podcasts before showering my day into existence. Since I’d forgotten to get chorizo sausage for the weekly scramble, I had to settle for some sliced up sausage patties this week. I also had some smoked Gouda with it. That added a very new element and I was glad I had the tartness of the blueberry lemonade to cut the richness of the dish overall. It was a great start to the day.
You may recall me promising the pickles to the Chef, I was supposed to deliver them in the afternoon but when the time came I was worried about a cough that had started after breakfast. I think it was the juice that got me coughing a bit, the sweetness sticking to the back of my throat maybe. In these times, I didn’t want to risk anything so postponed a day. I took the next step of making some chicken and rice soup. Really I was using up some stuff I had on hand and flying without a recipe. I used way more stock this time to try and keep it liquidy. I simmered it to perfection and after a bit of trial and error I got the seasoning closer to appropriate. You can see the change from the first bowl to the dumping of the pot. I think the rice melted. Something odd happened and I was left with a very thick paste going into the fridge.
I played a bit of NHL20 and finished book two of the Bobiverse. I can wait for my October credit or jump ahead and get three in sale. Then I spent most of the pm hours watching films again. Escaping from the day again. I watched a quirky family tale called Stuck in Love. Then I watched a less well done picture called Carrie Pimbly. The actress playing the lead role had too much of a transition in a short period. I couldn’t find it believable. The last movie was Sergio. It was an intense drama/thriller about the UN. It is heavily based on true events and people. I found it fairly profound and intense. The time jumps got less well documented as the film moved along but was easy enough to follow. It elicited a powerful emotional response which I see as the mark of a good film. It ended close enough to bedtime that I used my screens briefly and retired for the evening.
