Past Tugboat Strikes Again

This isn’t going to be as epic as when the Empire struck back. This was just the latest episode of Past Tugboat making life more difficult for Future Tugboat, who is currently Current Tugboat. Does that follow? The moral is that the negligence of my past has come back to haunt me. I’m not meaning how lack of exercise over the years has left me horribly obese. No, this is a shorter termed neglect. The bathroom, specifically the en-suite. There has been bi-weekly cursory cleanings happening all along but it’s been a long time since we had that deep clean. I was doing them monthly when I bought the house but that turned to quarterly and now I’m fighting to keep it three times a year. Before I get into it, I should add some context. I don’t clean the shower. Never have. I do the sink, mirror, floors, toilet, always leaving the shower for these deep cleans. It’s fine, certainly better than the situation you’re imagining and judging me for right now in your misinformed opinion. I don’t scrub it but I wipe it down and splash water and keep out dirt and hair free every week, but I don’t scrub the tiles or floor. This was the main thrust of the deep clean. That, and washing the walls to remove any possible urine deposits that could be lurking, invisible to the naked eye. I used four of the durable Mr Clean Magic Erasers in the shower, a kitchen scouring pad and very hot water. Side bar, I think my McGuinty mandated mixing valve might be gunged up with gunk and affecting my ratio, I had to go and manually increase the heat of my hot water heater. I now only have one more notch to go until it’s maxed out. So thanks irrationally government oversight. Thus with the adjustment, the water is noticeably warmer. Hopefully marking an end to my recent spell of lukewarm showers with that adjustment. The efforts took over two hours. That was across two bathrooms and my bedroom at large. I’m feeling much better about my living quarters. I plan to tackle another room tomorrow with a deep clean effort. In a couple weeks I’ll have taken on the whole house maybe. Until then I’ve got to pack for a conference. The fun isn’t slowing down!
