Two Weeks

Yikes! Has it been two weeks already since my last post. Probably something like that. What have I been up to? Well, I have been mostly on the road working. I was out East for a number of days. I attended what I think was my fourth Beau’s Oktoberfest. It was fun. Never disappoints. I toured all the corn sites I should have toured in the Ottawa Valley, one during a tornado warning. There actually was a tornado that touched down, about 45 minutes North of where the field was. I went back to finish the next day, I wasn’t about to get blown away. I saw corn all the way to Quebec City. It was a faster trip than normal through Quebec. I toured almost alone in a field during a downpour. I had to put my phone in a Ziploc sandwich bag for that one. That trip ate most of the time that we’ve been apart. Then I came back and started to tackle my day job. We’re trying to keep our heads above water on the note taking. I have to scramble over the Thanksgiving weekend to get caught up. I should have done more on the past weekend probably but I’d gotten to a point where I needed a break. I know I took half a day to get bombed with Beau’s but other than that I’ve been going strong for the better part of three weeks and the real harvest hasn’t begun yet. I had a guest over for a few hours on the Friday night, she was keto so I had to figure out what to cook for such a person. We watched a movie and that was that. The Saturday was more lively. I went to see Cheese and we attended a comedy show, Anthony Jeselnik. It was as uncomfortable as it was offensively hilarious. We had a raucous good time. For the first time in 2 years on the road he was forced to kick someone out of the show. An aging man in a suit who couldn’t handle his liquor. The guy was in the front row and was ruining the show. Other hecklers were destroyed as expected but this person wasn’t sensible, just yelling a catch phrase from Austin Powers repeatedly. It made no sense. Afterwards, the local celebrity that we were with asked us to join he and his girlfriend for a drink. It was the first time in half a decade that I’d been to a college bar. It was much as I remembered. Hot girls dressed hot and too many drunk people to not be annoying. I had my one in short order and we laughed it up for an hour or two then I drove myself back to the Harbour to dock for the night. Sunday was soggy so I took it for myself. My first full day off since early September. I’m glad I did it too. Nobody missed me not working an irresponsible amount. I’ve been back on the road looking at corn this week before hosting others on a similiar journey today. I have one more day of touring to do then I’m going to settle in to my own day job, hopefully to catch my breath in the process.
