Filling Gaps

Work has peeled off a bit for this week, the lull before the next storm perhaps. I don't know for sure. In any event, I'm find that I have some time to play catch up on some things in life but mostly working ahead to soften up the moisten on other things. Not familiar with that term? Well, Admiral Bonesaw can fill you in on what it means since he coined the term when we were in high school together. Don't know who Admiral Bonesaw is? You must be new, welcome. To illustrate my point of what I'm referring to on the gaps, I cut my lawn for the first time since the May 2-4 weekend. That was a battle, a sweaty unrelenting battle with many mower stalls. I had to switch to the classic half pass maneuver. I find that demeaning and a sign of weakness. I weeded around the new addition flowers too. I guess it was a landscaping day. I still need to get the weed-whacker to tightly trim the edges. I should plant some shady grass in some spots but I'm not obsessive about it.....like the neighour is. Doing it half ass is actually very appropriate for where I'm situated on the street. The one to the North of me is crazy about her lawn. Spend more time and money on it than any person should. On the South side is a dandelion sanctuary. Not in any official capacity, their lawn is just pure weeds. It agitates my soul to see and I have fantasized many time about dressing in black and sneaking over at night and spraying their whole property to let the grass shine. I still might. A black ops spray mission that only one man in the weeds can tackle. A lone, hoody clad figure sifting through the shadows to save the day. I mean, they're one a corner, come on guys. Those are the situations on either side of me and I'm smack dab in the middle, pure average in terms of lawn care. It creates a nice gradient as you enter the neighbourhood. Gets better as you go. The other two houses are both just average. I wish the other guy on the North corner was terrible. Then it would be a nice pyramid of excellence. That would satisfy my need for order and structure. Maybe a different mission would be to destroy that guys lawn. I could easily do that too. On my side of the block I fill the average gap between lovely and terrible, good and evil. That catch up portion got away from me a little. The working ahead piece is just doing a few things to make things smoother in the fall when I have to work the long hours again. Not really worth going into detail on. I get enough complaints about mundane, nonsensical ramblings. No need to draw the ire of my few faithful listeners any more than I already have.
