Meetings

So it's been a week since last I stopped to write here. I was gone for most of that week. I feel like I had the desire to jot something down last Sunday but Jacky Jonks got me hooked on Sim City. He was talking it up and wanted me to have a go at it so eventually I acquiesced and agreed to look at it. I paid the nominal fee and acquired the program. I thought I should see what all the fuss was about. This was just after I had done my usual Sunday business of groceries and cleaning and watering plants, etc, so around ten in the morning. When next I raised my head it was ten in the evening and I hadn't moved. Most people I relay this to are shocked and concerned that I didn't get up to use the washroom, have any fluids or eat any food in that twelve hour period. I try to explain that when my mind is engaged in something like that I lose all track of reality. It happened with Farming Simulator 2015 and it happened with Sim City. Cheese thinks I'm a tender, Brown thinks I have aspects of an addictive personality. Who's to say, all I know is that I didn't stop in here because I was slugging it out as the Mayor of several simulated cities. Good times. I made it to work, put in my full day and then got things ready for my departure. I had meetings up at Blue Mountain all week. Admittedly I had never been up there. I previously informed the two angry dwarves of my pending visit to their city so all protocol was followed. After my little cuz said she couldn't see me due to a new job I went with the plan to be carpooled up there. The meeting was excellent, we got together as a small group before joining the rest of the team. There was US representation at the meeting for the first time in the decade I've been working and they were amazed at how we do things and how we achieve results. The nights were long for me this week. For the first time in a few years I decided not to go to bed early and to stay out and socialize with my colleagues, this has not been the case of late. At one point, I discovered that meetings were more enjoyable when you aren't tired and hungover the next day and sort of avoided that condition. But there is something to be said about staying out and getting to know people better over some drinks and laughs. In any event, I only got about ten hours of sleep over three nights during the meeting. But was fresh as a sluggish daisy the next morning. There was also an event tacked on to the end of the meeting. A number of options for group activities. I choose fishing in a pontoon boat for lake fish. The boat captain decided it would be better to go into the bay and fish for salmon. I'm not sure which was the better choice but I do know that it was rough seas and we didn't get one bite the whole day. I was sort of looking forward to casting and relaxing but it was not to be. I stayed away from the rods and tried to have a nap but it was so rough I thought I was going to be sick, which was a first for me. I haven't been in scores of boats and I get motion sickness on buses occasionally but still a bit of a surprise. That definitely raises doubts about me buying a boat. I had even started to look just to see what was out there. But all's well that ends well, we made it back safe and I've been trying to catch up on lost sleep ever since. Hope your week was exciting, if anything of note happened feel free to leave a comment.
