The Ease Continues
Don't be fooled by that title, I'm in absolutely no way suggesting that things have been easy for the Tugboat. Quite the contrary in fact. The days have been going fast and furious. I carved out a bit more of an evening tonight than last night and even had a brief visit with the She tonight, more on that later. Let's get chronological for a minute here though. So yesterday we got a short notice call out to go perform a task in the field with a hard deadline. Basically in this instance we had to go soil sample a field before any fertilizer was applied which would confound our baseline results for that field. We only got four hours notice and the spot was at least an hour from my location, so I quickly gathered my stuff and we hit the road. This happened towards the afternoon, the morning having been spent making labels and stakes and forms and basically doing prep work I can do now that my printers are fully operational, well as far as they can get for now. So off I went like a shot, I took some time to get my bearings as was the first time we'd performed such a feat, and then it was on. I should probably remark at this time that I was not afforded adequate time to secure sustenance for myself. I ate only an apple and a granola bar, and for a man of my stature that is apparently not enough. So I trudged around an eighty acre field and took samples of the dirt up to two feet down, which is no small job. After a few hours of this I started to get light headed and feel terrible, nauseous, sweaty, just awful. Luckily we were on our way back to the truck when this all happened. I was able to get in and recline for the next hour. I was fed a couple of mints and some warm water from an old bottle and this seemed to bring me around. When I got to the farm I had a few slugs of water and a granola bar to shape up enough to drive home to my cupboards of food. Cereal isn't enough for breakfast either, that's why it always says a PART of a balanced breakfast. Those guys weren't kidding. So I over-exerted in the heat without enough food. I know, I know. But I wasn't planning to do that task, it was sprung on me. So now I vow to make sure I'm prepared calorie wise at all times for these surprise attacks. I got home, showered the dirt off my bare legs and fell into the slumber of a tired man. Problem was that it was barely nine when I did so. So I was up early, before the sun early. I was at work before seven, that is too soon. I went right to it though, got a good slag of work done before coming to back home for lunch, why you ask? Because I was meeting a Purolator shipment of seed that I need. So after my feed, I went to the farm with such speed, more that I'd need, to deliver that seed. Before I try to keep that going I'll say that I got lost in my work and ended up coming home for a second time much later than I wanted. I did manage to beat She here and was able to present her with their Christmas gift. A little late but worth it. She seemed pleased with it and I'm looking forward to the "fruits" of the gift. That is gold if you know what it is. So here I am, back at the helm catching you up on the day we missed. Well I missed, well that I didn't post on. You know what I mean!
