Carousing with Clothing
I didn't actually put any more thought into the clothing thing beyond what I had previous developed. So here is what I'm thinking. If we assume that clothes live in drawers and closets then the foundation of order would be around if socks and underwear get along fine. That is one constant, that they are generally always located within close proximity. Sometimes even in the same drawer, the old unmentionable drawer. Well, I'm mentioning it here. They must be able to coexist with little difficulty. Unlike pants and shirts, not any particular types but in general. They usually live away from each other. The exception would be dress pants. They seem to be able to hang out with shirts, but only shirts that are also good to hang out, drawer shirts and dress pants don't usually roll together, or at least they shouldn't. Bring t-shirts into the fold now, they usually are loners. They tend to be found in larger packs, folding into the dresser society. Usually they aren't far from the socks/underwear hangout. Shorts sometimes isolate themselves from the other bottoms, cutting themselves out of the pants world. They tend to be part of the dresser scene as drawer dwellers. In some cases, they only are around for part of the year, then they migrate to storage containers for the winter months. They, along with bathing suits are the snowbirds of the clothing world. Suits are a different beast altogether, they generally act like bears and hibernate for months or even years between calls to action. They also seem to play this trick where they shrink over time. That might just be my suits playing tricks on me. So the last item of note is sweaters, they definitely are cool with suits. They can hang with dress pants, golf shirts and pretty much anyone in the closet scene. But, they are also able to fold into the drawer world too. They are one of the few items that can easily go between the two groups; more than dress pants. I would say that sweaters are the glue of the clothing community. Not only for their ability to move between worlds but also their versatility of use, being ready to be called upon for any situation, except the beach of course. Naturally, my interpretation of the clothing community is male-centric, what with me being a man and all. I don't pretend to know about the many secrets of a woman's wardrobe. Many things about women I hope stay secret to me, I enjoy the mystery of it all. Makes me think that most women I know are secret sorceresses, a thought that I enjoy more than would be expected. Do you disagree? Anything I missed? I guess I should mention that for my house, belts and ties live in the closet realm, could be different in your setup. I guess.
