Grizzly Game Recap - Winter Game 11
The final game of the regular season for the Grizz didn't mean anything in terms of the standings, not like it did in the fall season. This one was against a familiar foe, as are all the games. The Grizz after a couple of close calls in recent weeks looked to maintain their undefeated season and they sought to do it with a dominating possession game coupled with relentless hustle and pressure, which is exactly what they delivered. They did not have their regular goalie for this tilt and were determined to make this a nice outing for the replacement by limiting how often he was tested. The game was a rare early match for the Grizz and this caused the Beer Guy to arrive late so he ended up playing on the back end for most of the match. This didn't slow his scoring pace, he added to a 1-0 Grizz lead by converting a pass from the Admiral into the top corner of the net. The Admiral got into the act with a nice backhand deke to make the lead three. It was 4-1 when a notable one timer beauty goal was scored, as usual the details are spotty on the circumstances. Of note was that Admiral Bonesaw hit the opposition goalie in the face twice in the match, this was not the first time the Grizz had rung this player's bell, having hit him in the face several times before. It didn't appear to be his night once again. The Grizz's opponent were slow and prone to turnovers from the intense Grizz pressure and when the final horn went the score was 7-2 for the Grizz. They finished atop the heap heading into the 1-2 revolver playoff format next week. Will they be able to maintain the intensity and success in the playoffs? Keep reading to find out.
