Easter Rundown

I survived my trip to the home land. It was fairly uneventful, mostly a pedestrian effort. Perhaps pedestrian but far from routine. Things were much different this year compared to past experiences of the Easter weekend. For starters I came home to an empty house for the first time. My parents had shifted down to visit my sister who had to work. The other one was in Italy on holiday with her friend. So it was just going to be me for the weekend, the only child of the brood to return home. I was invited to the Mayor's estate for both the initial dinner and breakfast the next morning as a result of being home alone. Apparently although I am a fully functional adult who lives in his own home, that he owns, I am unable to prepare meals for myself and must be cared for in this respect by my aunt and uncle. I didn't mind, it gave me opportunity to visit. All of their kids returned home with their significant others. It was nice to see everyone. After dinner on the Friday night I had to pull an Irish exit to meet up with the former girl next door. We've remained in contact over the years and decided to have a visit for the first time in a couple of years. We aren't usually home at the same time. So we chatted and caught up on all the gossip of the old gang. I did receive several annoying phone disturbances from Admiral Bonesaw and the Beer Guy during this visit that I let them know about the next morning at breakfast. We ate and laughed then everyone went for a long walk, well not everyone Frawnce and the Beer Guy stayed back and I was hoping to spend some time laughing it up with them but they just absconded to a bedroom and never came down so I took the hint and went home to see the dogs at my empty house. I took some time to explore all the changes to my childhood home before my parents returned from their visit with my sister. We made a nice little meal and watched a film together. My Mom had enough and tapped out after that but the T and I stayed on later to watch a film called Ghost Storm in its entirety. It was not a good movie but we enjoyed just how terrible it was. We laughed heartily throughout. I would not recommend it. Sunday started with the traditional perogie breakfast. We had already exchanged our Easter baskets which was just my Mom giving us the baskets. It was all sweets and fun stuff. After breakfast T went to dung out some snow, I went to work on their stereo systems downstairs. I had to find what worked and what could be culled to make space. Part way through this task I got the call to go down and help move a tractor. In a classic T trap, I ended up moving wagons of oats back to the farm for the hired man to clean this coming week. A fifteen minute job turned into three plus hours. He got me again! Sunday dinner followed not long afterwards. It was delicious, featuring rum ham this year. Yes, I said it, rum ham. I would eat it again too. I had a couple of beers with dinner which was nice. I actually had four of the Mayor's beers. One for each of the tires I inflated on the Mayor's car. When we got home the T and I worked on the stereo issue until it was all cleaned up and running smooth and loud, much to my Mom's dismay. She was hoping I could find faults in all the components and toss the whole works. For her sake I did toss a good pile and was able to fit all the remaining components into a storage unit that I had emptied so it no longer takes up any of her space in the basement and more importantly my old room. That was all the excitement that I can go into at this time. Other behind the scenes family business went down but that is not for you the average reader to know about just yet. Today was spent driving home for eight hours. Well seven, one hour was spent in the Bay visiting Sexy Bitch and his wife and newborn son. Then stopping off to give the Booj his gifts from my Florida vacation. He asked and did receive. We ran into old Cabbages too while we were there. What a coincidence. But that was about the size of it. I hope you had a good weekend too!
