Grizzly Game Recap - Winter Game 1
The Grizz are back! The winter portion of the season began last night. The Grizz are still stinging after their gut wrenching, disappointing loss in the finals of the fall league. It is a terrible event that should not be taken lightly or forgotten. There was some personnel changes in the off-season. Rek moved on to other things. And his replacement, Dougie didn't return for the winter season either. He was replaced by an young star named Sheraz. More on this newcomer soon.
The game itself was relatively unremarkable. The opponent with a name that was unknown was new to the league. Their inexperience showed up early in this match. They came out very hard and even tallied the opening marker but they hit the NOS too quick. The Grizz, who were in it for the marathon event, not the sprint, bided their time and weathered the storm. They notched two tallies in the opening period. The momentum was clearly in their favour heading into the second stanza. The shorthanded Grizz squad of five players made the most of their passing talents to maximize their efforts. The opponents had one unique factor. One player never crossed the centerline and when given the ball launched it with such force that it was a fear howitzer. At one point he inadvertently struck one of his own in the back of the head. Luckily he was clad in a helm, which no doubt saved his life. The Grizz added two more goals in the second period. Sheraz was flying all over the floor, playing with either the Beer Guy or Admiral Bonesaw. He notched two or three goals in the end, the actual number is still debated. The Grizz, ever the model of consistency notched two more in the third. The Beer Guy trickled in a goal to keep his scoring streak alive. Everything wasn't all roses for the Grizz. At one point the Admiral slipped and scraped his knee up real good. He didn't register any goals but was all over the opponents. All reports have it as an easy win for the Grizz.
