Wonderful Wednesday

I spent most of the day at my research farm today, opening things up for the spring. Getting the initial preparations done to build on as a foundation for what will surely be a phenomenal spring time rodeo of spills, thrills, and crocodills. That last one is neither a thing nor possible here. Either way, if you've ever put in a crop of anything you should be starting to feel the fever building within proportional to the disappearance of the snow in the corners of yard where the sun can't reach in with its warmth. If we get a warm rain a couple of days of sun I could almost be out there. It's an excitement and anxiousness that only about 2% of the population gets to experience. Isn't that wild? Two percent produce enough food for the remaining 98%. You're welcome. Yes I know I produce a relatively small amount but it's more than most. Anyways, it was a long day out there getting the small stuff done in advance of the assistants starting their roles.

I spent the previous day in the Eastern Business Office working on filming a training video for people on regional insect pests in corn. It was the first time I was allowed to be the talent. I'm guessing it will also be the last. My voice and expression are not remarkable. The script I prepared was alright but should be read by someone more qualified. It's funny how I've been told I'm a good story-teller but when it counts I'm pretty lame. I guess the subject matter and attention to detail is what does me in. Sit me at a table with a couple of beers and I'll regale you with tales of past adventures but make me stand in front of a plain white wall with a camera in my face and I lose any charisma I might have trundled together. Well it's time for me to cramble on down the stairs and scare up some grub for a hearty but sensible dinner. I hate the new regime! Cramble on!
