Vacation Nation
Originally my travel plans were to depart on the Tuesday to increase my latitudinal potential energy. I'm pretty certain it doesn't work like that but I will let GRP comment on that if he ever finishes milking his hornets of their honey. I decided to come up a couple days in advance. There were a couple of reasons for that move. One is that I still had a week to take off on the books. Much like the case in 40 year old virgin, if you don't use it, you lose it. Two was that I was ready to go and didn't have anything to truly hold me back. And finally I wanted to come help out with my ailing grandmother. She has dementia and it is really starting to affect her life. She took out a large sum of money to give to her children as a Christmas gift. She misplaced the money and now it can't be found. We are planning to have a good old fashioned Christmas morning hunt for it. Like Easter, but for hundred dollar bills. Mix in some Crown Royal and it's my kind of Christmas morning. Anyways, her mobility is also severely limited so I wanted to take some of the pressure off the family who have been pulling the weight all year. Let them have a little holiday and let loose. This time of year is all about family in the Western world so I've embraced that. Today I took her to get her hair did up for the next few days. Old ladies need hair appointments weekly I learned long ago. So she is all good for a few days.
Last night mon oncle came over for a drink and some billiards. There were a few of us so we played pea pool. The objective is to select a numbered pea and then to defend the ball with your number on it. I played well and drank better. Nice little evening. Most evening thus far I have spent watching a television show I inadvertently got the T into, Breakout Kings. He loves it. Already done a season in two nights. Impressive binge ability. I spend my days fixing things up, running errands or spending time with my granny. That or watching HGTV. All pass the day without exception. I did go talk to some farmers one day to give advice on agronomic practices. That was fun, made a solid case for not doing something extreme and risky on his farm. Hope to see the results. Either way, I have to sweep the floors and tidy the basement bar to prepare for company. From all of us at theTugboat.ca I want to wish you a warm and wild holiday season.
