Grizzly Game Recap - Game 5
Well the unthinkable happened. The Grizz have been defeated. The word from the gym is that to win this match the Grizz would have needed hotter sticks and cooler tempers. In their contest against the Performance Mazda Men, the Grizzlies ran into a team that got them off their previously successful game. The PMM squad got under their skin early and often and took the focus off filling the net with goals to getting even in the non-stop battle of the gritty areas of the gym. The PMM scored three quick goals to take the wind out of the sails of the Grizz. This set them on their heels for the rest of the night. Like a cat playing with a mouse the PMM then began to torment the Grizz. The PMM goalie was not as the name would suggest in that she was not a Mazda Man at all, in fact was a Mazda woman rather.
The lopsided score remained into the third with the PMM keeper stonewalling the Grizz scorers. She denied three penalty shots in the match, two consecutively due to the severity of a penalty. Rek and Beer Guy were not reunited for a second straight week and their inherent chemistry was again squandered. The Admiral notched an assist but was otherwise held at bay. The Grizz got off the schnide early in the third only to have PMM answer their tally immediately. This happened again later resulting in a 5-2 final. The game devolved as time went on and even included a head shot. The play was very Villnerd-like. There were dives, harrassment of the official, and the Grizz goalie getting penalized for unsportsmanlike behaviour, which lead to a PS. The final note was that the Grizz were put off their game in this one and suffered from a lack of momentum and chemistry. They will try to rebound next week.
