Well I guess you can say that mood struck me. I went to Ottawa. I traveled with my associate Dave as he was attending a marathon event wherein he ran the half marathon and did quite well. (results) I went along to visit our friend Steve. It was a good time all the way around. We somehow ended up in a huge poker tournament put on by Labatt's. Dave almost made the final table. Not bad for a couple of joker's with no money or chips. Let's just say that we were hooked up by a guy on the inside...thanks again man, that was awesome. We had an enjoyable time in our nation's capital. We didn't do a whole lot but it was a tiring weekend nonetheless. Ah, the hustle and bustle of traveling. Which brings me to my next topic. We had to pay an arm and a leg for train tickets to get there. It really was a ridiculous amount. I was mad. Apparently...you're supposed to have an ISIC card to obtain a student fare. Since when did a valid student card become not enough. Now we have to pay more to get one that as far as I know is only used by those scammers at VIA Rail. Here's me telling you to get a life VIA...you suck! Anyways after paying the $90 difference in fares we were away. We got nice weather and had a good time. Kudos to our hosts for yet again doing a superb job of putting up with us. Nice work. Well that's about all I have to say about that. Roger...over and out.
May ???, 2005
Work has been a mad whore for two weeks at least. It's been so intense that I can't even remember the day of the month it is. It's the Victoria day weekend, day two so that might be around the 21st. Anyways, I'll get to all that shortly. Back to basics bone brain...face(?) Ok, so we don't have a phone which, as a corollary will detriment our internet access which is why I'm recording all this old school style, ie via pen and paper, to be posted at a later date. That is if I can read it. My writing has really gone down the toilet in recent years. So what have I been doing for the past month?? Let me see....
First and foremost is that we've changed addresses. We now live in a new home, well two new homes but that's a long story and one that I don't relish speaking about at this juncture. This new home thing caused us to lose our telephone number in the shuffle....mostly because of our old landlord. Changing it was easy enough but getting jacks installed is impossible. Its been a full month and still nothing. My patience is beginning to wear thin. I've called and harassed them several times to no avail. I've been using my work phone to keep in touch with people the best I can. We also travel to the school to check email and whatnot.
Nothing exciting has happened. I did get last weekend off (first one) and we saw the latest epic (yawn) Kingdom of Heaven. We played base/basket ball at a local park. the facilities are exquisite. We had a seemingly enjoyable time. Later we rented a buttload of stuff to entertain us. I'm still reading The Hiram Key, its a long read. And speaking of read, I called young Reid. We had a good talk, she laughed a bunch, it was good. On the other hand, someone else (and you know who you are) said they would call me and did she? NO! Which almost brings me to the current time (work fills in the rest of the time passed) Today we actually finished planting. It's been a grueling few weeks but its all in and much earlier than last year. This is also the weekend when Philbert is trying out for a local junior team. He is not turning heads, allegedly. Their whole family is here despite the whole Buddy thing. (Its a complicated ethical dilemma) We all went to dinner together. It was good, a bit spicy, but good all the same. Tomorrow should be fun and next weekend I might go to Ottawa if the mood should strike me. That's about it for now seeing as its now 12:33 am. Haven't seen that time on the clock in a while......
