Tent-Venture - Episode 1
I’m posting the following journey undertaken by my friend Theodore Complete on their behalf.
Life in a Tent
The Pre-Game
I feel more confident with this new venture, bolstered by better equipment, more space, and the lessons learned the last time. I hope my giddy excitement and micromanaging that ruined the last plant will be in check this time around, but time will tell.
My new setup is a Vivosun 36” x 20” x 62” tent with a Mars Hydro TS-1000 LED light. That’s an additional >100 watts from the shitty light I used in the bucket, but I may add that in during the flowering period because why not? I also incorporated the carbon filter and fan that were unused from the previous adventure.
I am going to grow a seed that came as a ‘bonus’ from my previous order - labelled ‘Cheese Auto Feminized’. An autoflower, unlike a photoperiod plant, will switch to flowering at a set point in its life rather than as a result of changing the light schedule of the plant. They typically run a 3 month cycle from start to end. I have also read that aggressive training and pruning is not recommended because it may not recover and grow to it’s full potential before automatically switching from vegetative to flowering, so low stress tying will be my only method. I have no idea about the quality of plant genetics since it was basically unlabelled.
Setup was a breeze for the tent and took probably 10 minutes. Strapping in the filter/fan and light took maybe 20. The extra room to work is awesome
I planted the seed in a starter pot and placed that on a warming mat under a desktop CFL lamp to germinate.
I think I’ll name her Delilah.
Day 1 - Aug 20
I watched this rise from the soil to this point from 8 am to 3 pm. Approx 2.5 days to sprout. I poked the seed casing off, you can see it in the photo.
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4-5
No photos just gave it a little bit of water
Day 6
So far so good. I’m definitely more comfortable ignoring the plant more than my first ‘giddy kid’ grow. I can only assume this will help the plant survive.
Day 7
Happy 1 week birthday Delilah! To celebrate, I’m not going to water you today.
